Drive Testing & Verification

S.M.A.R.T. health checks, clone verification, and bad sector detection — know exactly what condition your drive is in before a small problem becomes complete data loss.

Know Before You Trust It

Drive Diagnostics & Health Verification

We run a full suite of diagnostics on every drive — surface scans, S.M.A.R.T. analysis, and post-migration verification — so you leave with certainty, not guesswork.

Drive Health Checks

Full S.M.A.R.T. analysis and surface scan — we tell you exactly how much life your drive has left and whether it needs immediate replacement.

Clone Verification

After every migration we boot from the new drive and verify file integrity — you leave with a confirmed working system, not just a hope it copied correctly.

Bad Sector Detection

Sector-by-sector analysis to map failing areas and determine whether data recovery or immediate drive replacement is the right next step.

When to Test

Signs a Drive Is Failing

Drives rarely fail without warning. Any of these is a reason to have yours checked — and to back up first.

Clicking or Grinding

A hard drive that clicks, grinds, or spins up and down again is wearing out mechanically.

Files That Will Not Open

Documents or photos that turn up corrupted, or folders that take minutes to open.

Freezes and Restarts

The computer hangs, shows a blue screen, or asks to scan and repair the disk when it starts.

After the Test

What the Result Means

Healthy

The drive passes. Keep using it — and keep a backup anyway.

Wearing Out

It works today but is on its way out. We can move everything to a new drive before it fails.

Data transfer and backup

Failing

Stop using it. If it is still partly readable, we clone what we can to a new drive before the damage spreads.

Questions

Drive Testing FAQ

It is the record a drive keeps about its own health: read errors, sectors it has had to replace, hours in use, temperature. It gives early warning of most failures, though not all of them, which is why we scan the surface of the drive as well.

The tests only read from the drive; they do not change your files. But a failing drive can get worse with any use, so if the data matters, tell us first and we back it up before testing.

A health check takes minutes. A full surface scan reads the whole drive, so a large hard drive can take several hours.

Yes. An SSD reports its own wear and how much life it has left, and that is read in the same way.
