Graphics Card & Component Installation — FAQ

Do you supply the graphics card or part?

Yes. We supply the graphics card or part and install it. Your written quote, after diagnosis, covers both.

Will a new graphics card fit my computer?

It depends on the room inside the case, the power supply and the slots on the main board. Many office desktops are small inside, with a power supply sized for what they came with. Give us the computer’s make and model, or a photo of the inside, and we check before anything is fitted.

Do I need a bigger power supply for a new graphics card?

Often, yes. A faster graphics card can draw more power than the computer’s power supply was made for. We check the power supply as part of the job, and if it needs replacing, the written estimate says so.

Will an upgrade erase my files?

Adding memory or a graphics card doesn’t touch your files. Replacing the drive Windows runs from does, so we copy your data first and check it after.

How long does it take?

Most common jobs take between an hour and a day when the part is in stock. If it has to be ordered, we give you the expected time with your written estimate, before you approve the work.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the part and the computer. You get a written estimate before any work starts, and nothing is done until you approve it.
